Wastebusters’ reuse shop is something of a Wānaka institution—a go-to for locals and a must-visit for visitors. Twice voted Wānaka’s best shop, it’s easy to see why.
More of a holiday experience than just a shop, it offers racks of beautiful pre-loved designer clothing, footwear, winter woolies for ski adventures, homewares, holiday souvenirs, accessories, artwork, toys, kids’ clothing, and much more.
Every item is a pre-loved treasure, generously donated by the community. Shopping at Wastebusters directly supports its environmental mahi while keeping resources in circulation. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, Wastebusters reinvests all surplus into helping communities make the shift to zero waste. With community-donated goods and proceeds supporting local initiatives, it has created its own circular economy.
Alongside its famous reuse shop, Wastebusters also collects and sorts real recycling. Local businesses can recycle with them, and visitors can drop off holiday recycling for a small fee. Accepted items include glass, plastic bottles and containers marked 1, 2 & 5, cans, paper/cardboard, and tetra-paks.
