Best Foot Forward NZ is a Wānaka-based owner/operator adventure company offering bespoke, backcountry trips. In summer we take our clients rafting, hiking, biking or pack rafting and in winter they head up into the alpine environment for guided snowshoe trips. Best Foot Forward NZ also specialise in small groups for 2 to 10 people and provide custom packages in the stunning Southern Lakes region’s back country.
Escape the crowds with a private, guided snowshoe adventure at the Snow Farm – home to 50kms of trails – nestled in the stunning Pisa Range, a 40-minute drive from Wānaka.
Thier experienced guide will transport you to the Snow Farm, which is located 15km up one of the Southern Lakes region’s most scenic, gravel access roads. As New Zealand’s only Nordic ski area, the Snow Farm provides access to abundant snowshoe trails that take you far from the hustle and bustle associated with commercial ski fields.
Your guide will discuss a trail route with you and help you into your waterproof boot covers and snowshoes and off you snowshoe into the crisp winter environment. Enjoy the peace and serenity of this alpine adventure, where snowshoeing offers a safe and relaxing way to travel on foot.
Heading out from the base building, it won’t be long until it’s just you, your guide and unlimited lungsful of fresh mountain air. You will traverse alpine landscapes, past rock features, and frozen streams.
Travelling on these trails a breeze with our lightweight, easy-to-use snowshoes that are provided, along with poles and waterproof boot covers. Our snowshoes allow you to travel without difficulty on groomed, or non-groomed trails.
After your half-day, or full-day adventure, snowshoe back to your vehicle, feeling pleasantly weary, with some beautiful photos taken and memories made in this special place.
Drive back down the Snow Farm access road, appreciating the epic views out over the Cardrona Valley and beyond – on return route to your Wanaka accommodation.
