It’s been six years in the making and organisers are excited about the return of the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest Warbirds Airshow – Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow.

After being forced to cancel the 2020 and 2022 events, excitement is high and tickets are being snapped up for this iconic event which was first held back in 1988.

The aerial displays at Warbirds Over Wanaka are supported by expert commentary and a pyrotechnics team, which enhances the displays with its array of huge blasts and fireballs culminating in a massive ‘Wall of Fire’.

Warbirds Over Wanaka 2024 will feature a new ground exhibit – The Future of Aviation. Up to a dozen businesses will be showcasing the work going on in the Aviation and Aerospace industries developing new technologies. From electric and solar aircraft to alternative fuels it will be on display at Wānaka including a Jet Pack from Sydney.

While you’re at the airshow why not book yourself the ride of a lifetime. A number of the aircraft displaying at the airshow will be offering flight experiences over the Easter weekend. These range from a Tiger Moth to a Harvard and P-51 Mustang through to an exhilarating ride in an L-39 Jet.

Warbirds Over Wanaka is being held March 29th to 31st at Wanaka Airport. Friday is practice day with Saturday and Sunday the main airshow days.
